Changing our lifestyle

Yesterday I went to Gold’s Gym Harajuku to have weights for the first time since the earthquake. Inside of the gym was very quiet and B2 floor was dim. It was because there was no BGM and lights were reduced to save electricity. I did not feel any problem at all. Lights in the train coaches were put off too. But I did not find any trouble at all. It was sufficient light to read book on board. I should hope this Electricity shortage would make all the people to realize that how we have wasted energy and change energy consuming life style.

This electricity shortfall caused by the accident at the nuclear power plant has also revealed the fragility of Tokyo’s urban structure. Terrible mess of transportation in Tokyo has affected economic activity significantly. This realized us that overconcentration to Tokyo is the cause of fragility of Japanese economy. The quake would force us to change our lifestyle and change Japan’s city structures.
